I'm not talking about unforgettable Academy Award winning movies that are on your list to own or watch again (for me it would be The Godfather, Slingblade, Sophie's Choice, among many, many others).
I'm talking about feel good movies--comedies or romantic comedies that didn't necessarily win an Oscar but somehow stole your heart?
I am also a fan of action or fantasy movies with some heart, that keep you hanging in there -like The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Braveheart, The new Batmans, old school Planet of the Apes- and for my husband, it would be Jaws, Alien, and Star Wars.
You see it's on the tellie and you stop to watch a minute of it, but then end up watching the whole thing.
There's just something about that kind of movie that does it for me...makes me feel lighter, a little more hopeful about humanity and love or the idea of it.....or something, I'm not totally sure.
This weekend, it was The Wedding Singer (does your significant other let you have the window seat?), but it's also been Pretty Women, Dirty Dancing and When Harry Met Sally, to name a few...
What about you? What are your favorites in this category (or others)?

Hmmm...this requires a lot of thinking for a Monday morning. I'd include any film that John Hughes made, especially 16 Candles and The Breakfast Club and I love the movies A Lot Like Love, Love Actually, P.S. I Love You (but only the scenes in Ireland) and 10 Things I Hate About You. I will stop to watch any of those movies if I flip past them on cable.
For me, it's The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, and Pretty in Pink, even though I own them all and can watch whenever I like. The same thing with Ferris Beuller's Day Off, Dirty Dancing, and, from time to time, Uncle Buck.
But this weekend? This weekend it was Teen Wolf! My husband saw it was going to be on cable, told me, and I about fell across the kitchen floor telling him to record it for me!
Pretty Woman is always a fave ... but my go-to feel-good movie? Finding Nemo. I could watch it every day of my life!
I definitely agree with The Godfather (parts 1-3)... I love it so much I had to own it, and every now and then I'll sit back and watch all three in a row. Though I have to say that the second one is my absolute fav (a close tie with number one.)
i like your blog, thank's :-)
I love Cinderella Man b/c of the strong relationship between husband and wife. Also, Miss Potter was really sweet. Hmmmm, both Renee Zellweger movies.
more Edward, please :)
I'm such a nerd--for me it's the Disney cartoons and family films...
i watched godfater like 5 times and pretty women half a dozen times.
i love the old mel brooks movies... for some reason i find them hilarious!!!
It is VERY hard for me to switch the channel whenever Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi or My Best Friend's Wedding is on (b.t.w., what is it with women and wedding movies?).
All other films I can pass, but these ... can't do it. Sigh. And God help me the day they start airing Lost In Translation on TV. They haven't done it yet, but the day they do I am so there.
yes, more Edward please. And I LOVE The Wedding Singer. It's such a cute movie that I could watch over and over.
