My Friday Rant and Rave

I've been doing my low carb and exercise program for over a month now, and can happily report that I have dropped eight pounds. I can button my jeans again. :)

Not too shabby. But the cravings for bread and chocolate are huge sometimes.

I was proud of myself for being "good" on my Florida vacation as well. And you know what? I had more energy this time. Normally I over-indulge in food and beverages on vacay and peter out early. I would become a SLOTH. Not this time.

My MIL was helpful too. She always asks ahead of time what food supplies we need. One thing I did request was a jar of peanut butter.

PEANUT BUTTER is a huge part of my daily life now (plus my five-year-old eats it too). I probably eat PB everyday with an apple or banana.

I usually eat SIMPLY JIF, which has a lower carb and sugar count (I hate the taste of the all-natural PB's).

Anyway, by accident, my MIL bought us WHIPPED PEANUT BUTTER (She only meant to get creamy).

Well HELLO whipped. I'm in love.

You have to understand-- it was like a delicacy to someone who is deprived of treats. It tasted like peanut butter flavored whipped cream. Plus, b/c it's whipped, it had lower carbs and calories. I ate it all week long.

Fast Forward to the present.

Post- vacation, I went to FOUR DIFFERENT GROCERY STORES (including Target) to find that DAMN PB and NO ONE sold it.

No one, I tell you. *sniff*

People, I live in a major metropolitan city. Cleveland may not be a Chicago or New York City but we have a large population, major sports teams, park systems, theatres, one of the top hospitals in the nation (The Cleveland Clinic).

SO WHY IS IT THAT I CANNOT FIND MY FLIPPIN' PEANUT BUTTER HERE?????????

So there you have it.

I'm depressed over PEANUT BUTTER.

*What I am hoping happens is, one of my local bloggy friends will tell me to get a life because they have the damn stuff in a store near them.

*GRINS*

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

Update: I told you it would happen. My niece, who is way cooler and smarter than me, found out where I can get it here. Out of my way, everyone :-)

I am a girl who understands sweets and deprivation and the things it can do to you. I'll check my local stores this weekend, and if they have this in stock, you can expect a package in the mail next week! Come on Philly stores - help a friend in Cleveland out!

I had this problem a few years ago when I lived in Seattle. I'm in love with Hormel Not So Sloppy Joe and they didn't have it ANYWHERE out there. So my mom called her grocery store in Michigan and ordered an entire case for me and mailed it. :D

You could try asking your grocery store manager if they'll order some for you. Or if that's a no go, maybe ask your MIL to grab some for you and mail it! I hate not being able to satisfy a craving, especially when it's something that's guilt free. I hope that helps!

I like peanut butter also, I even had it to my fruit smoothies for protein but I never noticed if we have the whipped kind. To funny...

First of all, congrats on losing 8lbs! That's awesome! I'm already at 16lbs lost and I feel great! It's amazing what a few lbs can do :) Good job!

I'm not a fan of peanut butter, but I can totally understand falling in love with a product and not being able to find it. That's happened to me sooo many times. Have you tried ordering online? I don't peanut butter is perishable, no?

I don't know if I've ever seen that before. I found an organic pb that you don't have to stir or refrigerate that we love. I buy it at HEB, but I know that's a southern chain. Good luck on the hunt!

well, I guess they have creamy peanut butter near my parents (since that's where you visited) but until this post I was never inspired to look for it. I'll keep you posted if I find it in VA :)

PS - apples + PB is amazing. same with apples + honey. Just sayin.

My mother-in-law lives in a suburban area in Iowa. I want to stress that it's freaking Iowa. They have this AWESOME grocery store (it's called HyVee - hi HyVee! call me!) there that has the widest selection of gluten free foods I've ever seen.

We live in Minneapolis, a metropolitan area that is largeish and has many fine, fancy, carpeted grocery stores. And half the time I'm sending emails to my MIL begging her to pick up things for us to send in a care package. Is it a care package when you request it?

Which is to say: I feel your pain, my friend.

Oh no! I hate it when that happens.

Congratulations on the weight loss! It's funny...I never crave sweets, all I ever have cravings for is peanut butter. Though I've never tasted whipped before; now you've piqued my interest. I hope you find your beloved peanut butter, my love!! :)

Aren't you doing a great job with the healthy living and weight management! And I'm sorry about the peanut butter. I don't think I've ever seen that before in Canada...

Wow, it sounds delectable. I'm going to see if our stores have some. If they do, I'll ship it to you!

Way to go!!! I have never seen the whipped PB. I will have to check it out. Skinny Cow makes fabulous ice cream bars and fudge bars. Very filling too. Another thing I treat myself to is Hershey's Special Dark. It's lower in fat than milk chocolate. I don't eat them every day of course, just once in a while when I need a chocolate fix.

Peanut butter is the staff of life; bread, a supporting player. Could not live without PB. It's not just for you young whippersnappers, either. The chunkier, the better. If whipped doesn't have crunchy, you can have it all and I'll just stick to my whole fat, yummy, PB. Hope you find some local. Come visit.

Well I have to look for that PB. I love PB. Low carb is awesome, good for you. I lost 45 lbs. several years ago and then I went off the wagon. Your cravings will pass with time!

I'm glad you found a supplier. Wouldn't want you jonesin' over whipped PB, it would be unseemly.

Up here in Canada, I have only heard tales of this whipped peanut butter. I am DYING to get my hands on it. Oh for it to be imported up here! Enjoy every mouthful of it for me!

Whipped Peter Pan?? Gotta get some. I often mix PB, coolwhip and brown sugar together for fruit dip, so this is right up my alley.
