Quick Friday Five

1. My husband left today to visit his brother in Thailand (he owns a coffee company there) for two weeks.
2. He went with his father, which warms my heart. But, in almost ten years together, this will be the longest we've ever been apart.

3. And believe me, I know I've got nothing on those military wives who are so very brave and strong.

4. But everything is relative. So I am thankful for technology: smart phones and Skype!

5. Plus we have a visitor of our own. Evan's nana came to see him for awhile. It'll help make the time go faster.

P.S. I'm secretly jealous that I can't share this trip with him, but I'd never be comfortable with both of us leaving kidlet for two weeks half-way around the world. Plus, the flight there (about 20 hours) would be a KILLER. Just sayin'...

I understand exactly where you're coming from! The thought of being away from my hub for that long would kill me, but the plane ride is also INSANE!!

I'm sure you've got a list of fun things planned to keep you busy! I have faith in you! Happy Weekend!

My goodness I would love to go to Thailand. I could eat Larb Gai all day long.

Sounds like this will be tough for you though. Hopefully you'll get some writing done!

Is he going to THAT part of Thailand (in the picture)? If so: jealous! (And totally missing the ocean).

I agree with Matthew - maybe you'll get a little writing time. :D

I hope he has a great time and you have a lovely visit. Maybe next time, all three of you can go.

Aww, I know how you feel. I hate being away from Michael.

I think Matt has the right idea - use the time apart to write!

He'll be back before you know it. <3

Saw you mentioned on Melissa's site and as I love visiting other blogs I thought I'd stop by and say hello. I know just how you feel as I used to hate my husband being away, thankfully his new job means less travel.Anyway, nice to meet you, I've enjoyed my visit.

What an amazing trip (although 20 hours in an airplane, knowing I'd have to make ANOTHER 20 hour trip to get back, makes me shudder a little bit...mostly a lot!). Hope you and the little one enjoy some fun adventures during this time.

What a wonderful trip for you father in law and husband!
I know what you mean, I rarely travel alone with my hubby because I'm so afraid to leave my kids without a parent for too long!
My hubby just started a job two hours away so sometimes he commutes and many week days he stays there (the company pays for his apt) until we all move!!! So yay for Skype!

I hope those two and a half weeks go as quickly for you they will for the traveler.

I hear you there. I was so thankful for cyberspace when my hubs was in S. Korea last month. He couldn't use his cell phone, so we chatted on Facebook. He now appreciates FB. Hah.

So sorry you can't go to Thailand with your husband! But yes, that 20 hour plane flight would probably not be fun :) And Skype is awesome.

My parents used to live in Thailand. It's a very long flight.

Great place. Miss the food. :(

My husband was alway in Europe for almost two weeks. I was thrilled when he returned. I missed kissing him. ;)

wow Thailand? That is one long trip! I'd miss my husband too...completely normal but what an experience for him!

It will be a nice for the men to hangout together. I know you will miss him but the time will fly, especially having company. I don't think I could handle a flight that long, that's why I haven't left the states!!

I feel your pain, the partner-in-crime is about to leave for India on a business trip and he'll be gone for 10 days. Boo :(. Although that does mean I get to watch whatever movies I want...

I always hated when Rich was away...he never got sent anywhere dangerous but he was still gone!! It's not easy...and that is FAR!

20 hours! I don't know if I could handle that! I hear though. I don't like it when hubs is away for a long time either.

But think about how much time you'd have to read?

Hope the time passes quickly.

What is this about writing and reading time? I am a single parent for two weeks, with a nana coming to help ;--) Have a good weekend all!

I can totally understand you, Thailand is a dream trip but there's always the down sizes. And I know that your husby will be back with you in no time! =D

I hope the two weeks go by fast for you. Any length of time being separated is hard.

I'm leaving Mr. J for a week and I'm already feeling weird about that! And I'm only going to Chicago!

My husband and I have been apart for about a week or so at a time. In the summer, I take the kids to visit family, and my husband can't always take time off. It's easier to go away than be left behind. When my husband has gone for conferences for a week, it seems longer.

I hope it's not too bad.

You will find things (like blogging) to keep your mind going so that you don't think about the time hubby is a way. It will all be fine.

Aw, stay strong these next two weeks! And yea, the flight to the Philippines is 18-20 hrs long too. You can watch a lot of films in that time...
