1. Vacation was really nice. We always stay at my in-laws condo right on the beach. As I walked along the sand holding my six-year-old's hand (I just rhymed-someone pass me a guitar to strum), I got all warm and fuzzy when I realized that we'd created this yearly tradition of beach memories for him.
2. But I definitely missed my writing, and my bloggy friends (but not the lingering snow). I'm nearly finished with revisions on my newest YA and I was bummed to leave it behind.
3. But this week also afforded me time to think about some stuff I've struggled with. Amazing how the sound of the ocean gently lapping against the shore can help you work things through in your head.
4. And here's what I came away with. You have this thing called your gut instinct. And if you ignore it, it won't go away quietly. No way. It will continue creeping up to rub your decisions in your face. #neener-neener. YEP. So next time do yourself a favor and LISTEN TO IT!
5. The suitcases and laundry are holding a staring contest with me, but I will WIN (for one more day)!

Ah, that comment about the gut instinct really hit home with. Especially because of my blog post this morning. Thanks!
And I'm sooooo jealous that you spent some time on the beach! But I'm glad you had a great time!

Man, I want to be where you were. I LOVE, love, love the beach.
So glad you're back! But i bet it was great to get away for a bit. I know I can use a mini vacation too :)
So glad you're getting a chance to enjoy some time off. Love reflective moments -- not often available in the day-to-day world. Expect you to fly through the next few months of editing! You go, girl. You rock.
There is nothing wrong with stepping away from the writing for a bit, especially if you've got such a great place to step away to!
The beach always restores me too. I got 20,000 words in one week once when I was at the beach. It was a beautiful thing. :)
And I'm glad you're back! Also glad you got some resting in, that's always important. :)
Ahhh...sounds like a nice vaca! Glad you're back though!
The ocean is free therapy. It plays its own song and it's beautiful!
Always listen to that instinct. You stare that laundry down! And now I want to go to the beach. ;)
Just wave your story in the face of laundry and suitcase. They'll run off trembling! You're so close! That's awesome!
I'm with you on the GUT! I should have listened a LONG TIME AGo instead I'm just now learning that it's right.
I'm going to Florida next week... oh yeah, beach time baby :)
Creating those yearly memories for your children is so important. My mom did that for my sister and I (though we went to small town where my family was from and not a beach) and it has really influenced my life and how I perceived time with my family. At 21 I still want to spend atleast a week alone with my family with no interruptions. And no matter how teen angsty I got, I still wanted it.
Gut instinct is the most important thing...like ever.
You came back with the one thing I needed to hear more than anything. Thank you. I originally wrote the first chapter of my WIP one way. Worried I rearranged and changed it up. My guts been rumbling at me every since. I think it's worth taking a chance and returning to the original format.
Missed you. One of these days I hope to get to the ocean. I wanted to hear it one last time before I went deaf, but life had other plans. I think I'll hear it with my heart instead the next time around. (Hugs)Indigo
Ah, there's nothing like post-vacation laundry to totally make you feel like you need another vacation!
If there's one thing I've learned in life, it's to listen to my gut.
So glad you had a great vacation!
The beach definitely has powers. Glad you enjoyed your time there!!
LOVE the beach! And I totally agree with you about listening to your gut/inner voice. I try to listen to it even when I don't understand why.
