The Five Senses of Autumn: SMELL

My other five senses posts are here: Sight, Sound, and Taste.

I won't mention the obvious, like pumpkins, apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, and turkey/gravy. Instead, my olfactory senses go here:

Rain. Damp, fresh, new. A cleansing of sorts.

Candy. Chocolaty and sugary, with tricks to go along with them. And maybe a scare.

Piles of leaves. Earthy, organic, and perfect for stomping through.

Enjoy your fall day!

I'm ready to pick that Reeses cup off that mound of candy. Great photos. :)

FALL! I wish it was cool enough to sip hot cider and watch the leaves change color. Alas, I live in Houston, if it was cool there'd be something wrong!

Happy Monday fabulous!

It's definitely cool here (sends some down to Jen).

I can tell it's getting cooler. My husband is baking again (he gets bored when I'm writing and someone has to keep the kids out of trouble). ;)

Happy Fall!
I absolutely LOVE the smell of burning leaves. Love it!
I also cook more once cold weather approaches, so there are more good smells from the oven and crock pot in our house!

Those scents alone are so telling that it's fall. Love the comfort that goes along with them ... Happy Fall Monday to you :)

Fun post Christina.

I took our youngest to a corn maze this weekend, and we played in a hay barn--so the smell of fall is hay and dust. Still sneezing.

LOVE. Smell is such a great descriptor. I think it has more emotional connection than most senses, and it's great to use in writing, because often overlooked.

Great images and thoughts to go with them. I love the feelings of crisp fall air and the sound of geese overhead.

Great pictures that bring up images of great smells. It's one of the senses we sometimes overlook in writing. Thanks.

Oh my goodness. I swear I could smell each of those as I was reading! Very expressive. And way to not go with the obvious!

Oh, I love the top two in particular! It's spring here, so it's lovely to get a quick dose of autumn from the other side of the world.

So gorgeous - and yes, your full feed is definitely turned on :)

I grew up in NY, so the smell I associate autumn with is wood-smoke and that crisp to the air.

Oooh those apples! They are good for you right??? ;)
