She scrawls them based on what she reads in the classifieds section. How COOL is that?
Here are some examples:
"When I put your coat collar up to protect you from the cold...
on the corner of E Houston and Bowery...
and I looked in your eyes...
I was very tempted to kiss you...
but I don't steal women from other men...
still...
I was tempted..."
"You were reading Catch-22 on the subway this morning. I have never seen such a beautiful profile. I wanted to say hi, but then you’d turn towards me and I wouldn’t be able to look at your profile anymore. You were so into your book, I don’t think you noticed me falling in love with you. But I thought I’d ask, just in case."
"i bought you that milkshake
you just didn't realize it."
So imagine my EXCITEMENT when I saw she had a BOOK based on her drawings! It would make the perfect coffee table book and is SO on my Christmas list (if I don't buy it before then)!
ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND!

Wow -- a whole book of sweet, romantic, missed opportunities? I'll have to check this out! What a cute idea, although I'm afraid I'll start tearing up.
(Hallmark commercials make me cry -- and they have HAPPY endings!)
Those ARE really cool. And really sweet. :D
How awesome! I will check this out. THanks.
These are AWESOME! I'm passing this on to my sister...we love reading the misconnections on Craigslist!
There's a certain charm to these that just hooks us. So sweet!
Creative idea.
I think all of us respect and reflect on what might have been.

Whoa...these are fabulous! Thanks for sharing them.
That is awesome. I love how inspiration can come from the most mundane things.
(Thanks for your congrats, Christine!)
I already have it - it's wonderful. And there's an intro about how she came across Missed Connections that I really loved. I definitely couldn't wait until Christmas.
And those are real classifieds? Love it! Just makes me sigh contentedly.
Oh my goodness that is so very cool! I want that too!
Hi Christina, thanks for stopping by and commenting on my interview at Lydia Kang's blog. These examples of romantic missed opportunities are so sweet and poignant - what a great idea.
Oh, thank you so much, they're beautiful! I know somebody who's going to love this book.
Wow, I really love both her artwork and the sayings. I must go check out her site....
I'll have to check out this artist. Thanks for point the right way.
Those are just lovely! I haven't heard of her before, but I'll have to check out that book!
These make me swoon, and I'm going to purchase the book tomorrow when I get to work. I wish we had it in stock so I could immediately swoon! Love her drawings, and didn't even realize she's the illustrator for the Ivy & Bean series!
