The Five Senses of Winter: SIGHT

It's important to use your senses in writing, but sometimes we forget to show them all. For my winter season posts, I've begun with the most obvious.

There is so much to SEE in December. Most of all, the LIGHTS!

The only month all year long that strands of twinkling lights hang from just about anywhere.

And there's something about those lights that changes the landscape of the world for just a little while.

Making it feel magical and full of possibilities!

and when it's against a backdrop of stark white snow, the image is stunning!

HAPPY MONDAY!

Love the lights. I love writing about the senses. I really like the idea of hanging the lights on the wall. Interesting.

Beautiful! Not exactly what I think of when you say Winter. I like these images much better than my reality.

Dare I say I miss snow?

Pretty impossible to avoid this sense in the holiday season! :o) In fact, the lights around my neighborhood are blinding. Maybe I won't have any sight LEFT by the end of the year ... ;o)

I was just telling my coworker on Friday that lights are my favorite way of decorating. I would choose lights as a way to decorate a room over any other type of decoration. Love the pics! And I totally agree about the snow, it makes it so beautiful.

Jem and Pam, the snow is magical around Christmastime--but talk to me in March and I'm so over it! :-)

Gorgeous lights! And I love using senses in my writing... hmm. Now I'm thinking how fun it would be to have a Christmas scene in a book. So much to describe!

I guess just don't go overboard, eh? Merry Christmas, C! :o) <3

I saw a guy walking his dog last night, with a Christmas-light leash. It was strange, but awesome.

I love these posts you do. And the pictures you use. CHristmas lights are one of my favorite things. I love to sit by the tree. :)
