Preparing for a yard sale, I came across a book a friend had given me in college.
It's called GRIFFIN & SABINE, An Extraordinary Correspondence:
Oh how I loved this book, for all of it's uniqueness. It's done in a series of postcards and letters that you pull out of little envelopes to read. And the illustrations are mesmerizing.
Griffin is a lonely artist living in London, when he receives a postcard from an artist named Sabine who lives on a fictitious island. Their correspondence becomes very personal and they fall in love without ever having met. The book contains hints of mysticism, too.
"Sabine, when you found me, I thought my loneliness had gone for good. I was kidding myself. I desperately desire your company. I haven't talked to anyone in three days."
Makes a great gift or coffee table book. You can find it, HERE!

What a cool gift. Reminds me of some of the fairy books my daughter owns. They have beautiful pictures and letters to read.
And I was reminded by a friend on Facebook that it's a trilogy!
Wow, what a cute and interesting book! I'll have to be on the lookout for it.
Your next gift, M! :D
I am a total sucker for books with letters inside!
Looks delightful!

The forgotten treasures you find while organizing! I'm slowly unpacking the 30 boxes I packed a year and a half ago when I thought we were moving (my hubby got transferred back in that time), and there are things I'm donating and lovely finds that I smile at!
That looks gorgeous, and you know I'm down for mysticism.
Thank you for reminding me about this book. I had seen it somewhere before. My daughter is 31 and she has a few postman books from her childhood that were kinda like this with little letters inside. I must get this for her.
Have you read the whole series? It's amazing!! <3
Caroline,
I haven’t! Okay, you’ve inspired me to get the next two!
What a cool book! I love interactive books. I've been eyeing these giant Dragon and Mermaid books for a long time, the ones with the pop-up pictures and envelopes with notes you can read, and dragon "scales" you can feel.
I have a cool DIsney book with things your pull out of envelopes, too. What a neat book.

It looks very charming! So did you decide to keep it or did it go into the sell bin?
I love rummaging through old stuff and discovering long forgotten treasures! Such a kick!! :)
Elana, KEEP! :D
Having trouble leaving a comment...test #3
Okay, well...in my previous attempts at leaving a comment I said how lovely I think this book sounds, and what a truly splendid gift.
I'm a huge fan of interactive books and snail mail letters. <3
I shall be purchasing this book. Perhaps two, so I may give one as a gift. :)
Hugs,
Lola
