Love this. I was just in Ohio for a wedding and was AMAZED at the fireflies there. We get like two fireflies per square mile here in Texas, so seeing them light up the trees like a disco show blew my mind.
When I lived in Highland Park, IL, we'd walk to the lake from our house with the kids, who were all really young then. We passed a recessed forested area that, in the summer, was ablaze with fireflies. More fireflies than I'd ever seen before or since gathered in one area. It was magical. We'd spend long minutes just watching nature's light show, happy to be together. Such special times.
