Freeze Frame Friday: Angela and Jordan

Talk about a show that represented quintessential teen angst. And only nineteen episodes were filmed before My So Called Life was cancelled. :-(

I sometimes picture Angela and Jordan when trying to write "emo" scenes. To capture the tension and longing they conveyed with only their eyes.

ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND!

(P.S. Stina and I still have spots available to critique your first 50-100 words in our workshop. Email me if you want yours included.)

Freeze Frame Friday: In a Bubble

We've always done lots of THIS in our back yard:

Except this summer, swords and light sabers are involved.

Because, you know, Jedis have a need to defend themselves

against flying objects!

Go on, pop some good bubbles this weekend!

P.S. HEY GUYS, remember that awesome First Words Workshop entry from Wednesday (scroll down)? Well, she's looking for another MG beta or CP for that book. Any takers? Comment here or email me!

Freeze Frame Friday:HAPPY BIRTHDAY

See that sweet little boy drawing balloons down there?
How did he get to be SEVEN when just yesterday I carried him in my arms, inhaled that yummy baby smell, and covered his face with tender kisses?
Just last week he said, "Mom, my heart is so squeezed full of love for you."

How'd he know that was exactly how I was feeling?

HAVE A WEEKEND FILLED TO THE BRIM WITH *LOVE*!

Freeze Frame Friday:RETREAT

It's been a week filled with surprises, both good and bad.

And right now all I want to do is retreat to a place that feels comfortable and familiar.

Into a world filled with things I love: some mystery, splashes of suspense, lots of romance, sprinkles of supernatural, and words. Just WORDS.

So I invite you into my secret garden. It contains the TREE of BOOKS, and it's branches hold all of the books every written:

Gently pluck a book down, sit in a quiet spot in the shade, and retreat into a magical world with me.

What book would you choose?

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND!

Freeze Frame Friday: Nature's Diamonds

We had a wicked ice storm the other night that took down trees and power lines in our neighborhood. The howling wind had us nervous our roof would fly off and the clinking ice against the windows made us fear the glass would shatter.

By the next morning the sun was shining and we woke to a wondrous sight.
The tree branches were coated with ice, and against the brilliance of the sun, they looked like millions of sparkling crystals dotting the horizon.

Everyone I ran into that day kept looking to the sky, in awe of the beauty of mother nature.
I tried taking some pictures of the trees but they didn't do it justice! *sigh* You'll just have to take my word for it!

Today is another blizzard and schools are closed again. I'm raising my white flag, Mother Nature!

ENJOY YOU WEEKEND!

Freeze Frame Friday: Bliss

I'm celebrating a friend's birthday with a spa day this weekend.
There's just something about cherished time with my two best girlfriends that quenches my soul. "A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out." Walter Winchell
"A friend hears the song in my heart and sings it to me when my memory fails." Anonymous

What are your plans?

**BTW, if you have a minute to say hi to Laura (my guest post from yesterday) at THE NEW EMILY or to click her followers link (it's up and running again), please do (with sugar on top). Remember how strange it felt the first few months of blogging? *HELLO, IS ANYONE OUT THERE?*

HOPE YOU HAVE A NICE WEEKEND!
